Bluebonnets

I think I will post some of the bluebonnet pieces that I did last year.  Hopefully we will have another display this spring (if we get some more rain).  I see a lot of little plants coming up and just hope that they will all survive and bloom.  Many people may not know that a field of bluebonnets has a wonderful scent.  Very subtle, but delicious.

Baaaa

I just love all the different kinds of sheep we have in our area, especially the very woolly ones.  And there are so many new little lambs now.

Chinese Pistache

There is this small Chinese Pistache tree outside of my studio window.  The past few weeks it has been turning all kinds of colors.  But last weekend it was at it's peak and I did several paintings of it.  All I had to do was open my studio window to  paint it "plein air."  Several days later it started fading and today the branches are bare.  This tree  really put on a spectacular color show, better than I have seen in many years.

Red Barn

I think red barns must be universal.  I am always drawn to them wherever I go.  This one I discovered in rural Norway when we traveled there last summer.  The air was so clean and the colors jumped out.  I knew I had to paint this.

Roadside Trees

I pass these trees nearly every day and they just fascinate me, the way they change with the seasons and the different times of the day.  I just love to paint them and have done it many times.  I don't know what kind of these they are, but really need to find out.  I will paint them again as the colors change this fall.

House On Grape Creek Road

This is an old rock house that I can see from our back porch as just a red spot in the distance.   It is actually about 2 miles down the road from us.  This great property has corn fields, wheat fields, peach groves, chickens, and tons of charm.    

           

Canyon Colors of Santa Elena

Well, I am back after a summer of non blogging and not much painting, either.  I took some time off to refresh after getting a rut where nothing was turning out the way I wanted.  But now I am back in the groove and enthusiastic.  This picture I did from a photo I took when we visited the Big Bend in the springtime  I wish I had been there with my paints and time to spend.  My husband and I were on a quickie day trip and anxious to get home after being gone for several weeks.  I hope to get back there soon with paint and time.
